Kyle’s Notes:

Similar to August 2023, this batch was created to highlight a specific floor of Rickhouse C.  Comparing these two batches provides a similar experience as to what we offer during barrel selections onsite.  Additionally, this floor had been chosen consistently during those selections, so I knew it would be a good floor to highlight for a single floor offering.

In addition to the tasting experience and story this provides for US consumers, there was another thought in mind while creating this batch. We are fortunate enough to have relationships internationally, and we had an opportunity to bottle bourbon to sell in the United Kingdom. While I didn’t know specifically their taste preferences that consumers would have in bourbon, I did want to have the subtle, sweeter, lower floor profile from the Rickhouse as the driver for the bottling.

One final note for this batch is that the liquid for both the March/April 2023 bottling was the same, but we had to bottle the product in two different months.  This was purely logistical in nature, so there are not two unique 3rd floor batches in back to back months.

Bourbon Nerd Information:

On 2/29/2024 a total of 203 barrels were dumped to produce both the USA and UK version of Soft Red Wheat BiB as well as some distillery exclusive Rickhouse Proof.  There was a barrel loss of 32.8% during aging.  The Rickhouse Proof version was 118.4 proof.  A total of 24 distilling days were used in the batch from the Fall 2017 distilling season. The weighted average for the floor was obviously 3 and there were 10 different ricks used as seen below.
